Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware has many great mentors. Our mentors serve as either a Big Brother or Big Sister, referred to as “Bigs.” As mentors, they make a long-term commitment to their Little Brother or Little Sister, referred to as “Littles.” They volunteer many hours of their time to help a child discover their potential. Our wonderful Bigs have helped many children in Delaware improve their educational performance, build their self-confidence, and more.

Thank you to everyone who was or is currently a Big! Your dedication and commitment to help the children in our community do not go unnoticed or unappreciated.

Thank you for being a Defender of Potential!

Why are Mentors Important

Mentors make a big difference in their community. Signing up to become a Big Brother or Big Sister is easy and can be done online. Once you sign up as a volunteer, our team will work with you through the enrollment process. Once you become a Big Brother or Big Sister, you are on the path to empowering your Little Brother or Little Sister.

How do you inspire your Little? The answer is simple, become their role model. As a Big, you come into your Little’s life as a friend, someone to help guide them as they navigate the world around them. The best way to become connected with your Little is by spending time together. You can spend time with them by doing fun activities such as playing sports, visiting a museum, or trying new food. Once you and your Little begin to have fun together, you will see the benefits of a strong and enduring friendship.

Children are currently waiting for YOU! The children in our program have big dreams they want to accomplish; they just need someone like you to stand beside them.

If you are interested in making a difference in a child’s life, becoming a Big is the perfect solution. You will see that simply being there to have fun and listen to a child can help them accomplish their goals. Take the opportunity to sign up to become a mentor to a child in your community today!
