Congratulations Javier – Class of 2015!

“Tonight I had the distinct honor of attending the graduation of Javier at University of Delaware’s Bob Carpenter Center. I first met Javier in February 2006 when he was a 3rd grader and was selected to be my “little brother” [I can no longer call him that as you can see from the pic] through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware. I am so happy to see him graduate today from Howard High School — and continue his education at Delaware State University in the fall — although I must say the moment is bittersweet as his graduation officially marks the end of my 9-year highly rewarding experience as a member of Big Brothers Big Sisters. I will miss meeting with Big Brothers Big Sisters’ highly talented and hardworking staff, particularly Tiyona McCollister, who consistently came up with fun and creative activities for us to participate in. I would be remiss not to use this opportunity to acknowledge and thank Dan Gigler who was the first person to encourage me to join this outstanding nonprofit. Above all, congratulations Javier!”
